RSPB Middleton (Staffs) - 38 Snipe (S Allison). Common Sandpiper [Canal Scrape], Greenshank, 6 Ringed Plover, Little Ringed Plover [East scrape], 2 Ruff [Jubilee North] (R Eyres]. Quick dash between the screens tonight produced Garganey [Jubilee South], 5 Black-tailed Godwits, Green Sandpiper and 14 Snipe [East Scrape]. Great White Egret roosted riverside.

This Afternoon - Bittern flew into reeds behind West Screen and Hobby over East Scrape (@Malc64422791). Tonight 2 Wood Sandpiper, 5 Black-Tailed Godwits, 3 Common Sandpiper, 3 Green Sandpiper, Dunlin, 2 Garganey (not together - either side of Jubilee division), 16 Snipe and Egyptian Goose. No sign of Avocet tonight.

RSPB Middleton (Staffs) - 2 Wood Sandpiper, 3 Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, 4 Black-tailed Godwit, Dunlin, 4 Avocet, Water Rail [East Scrape], 2 Black-tailed Godwit, Dunlin, 4 Egyptian Geese, Shoveler still with full brood of 9 [Jubilee North], 2 Garganey & Little Ringed Plover [Jubilee South]. 31 Snipe around the reserve with a final count of 24 on East Scrape.

Tonight - 2 Wood Sandpiper, 2 Green Sandpiper,1 Common Sandpiper, 4 Avocet [East Scrape], 4 Little Ringed Plover [West Scrape], 2 Dunlin [Jubilee], Marsh Harrier [North Pit] & 24 Snipe around the reserve. (M Scott, S Pick).
KWP Cliff Pool - Willow Tit, 27 Common Tern & 12 Little Egret (T Perrins).

Second Wood Sandpiper often feeds on North Pit so absent from East Scrape for long periods - flushed by Marsh Harrier tonight.

4th August

Tonight both Wood Sandpiper had returned to East Scrape - also Dunlin, 10 Snipe, 3 Common Sandpiper and LRP increased to 5. Avocet were down to 4 (looks like an adult has left ) and 3 Egyptian Geese.

Dosthill Lake (Waterski Pools) - 3 Green Sandpiper & Goosander.

Neither of the two Greenshank tonight were the colour ringed bird from last night and all the Blackwits flew south at 7.45pm. Wood Sandpiper were still on East Scrape at dusk.

2nd August

RSPB Middleton (Staffs) - 2 Greenshank, 5 Avocet, Common Sandpiper & Green Sandpiper [East Scrape] (RSPB). Tonight - No change on East Scrape apart from a Snipe and the 2nd Greenshank is colour ringed. Elsewhere on the reserve 5 Black-tailed Godwits, 9 Snipe, 5 Green Sandpiper, 2 Common Sandpiper, 4 Egyptian Geese and 9 Goosander on the River.
